Every airline ticket tax,
in one open platform.
One canonical source of airline tax rules — community-governed, with a free calculation API for everyone.
Free API · airline-governed rules. The hub is hosted by the community so the data stays singular — no fragmented forks, no contradictory rates.
Why one source
Tax rules only work if every airline calculates the same way. That's why the Open Tax Engine isn't a fork-it-yourself project — it's a community-hosted hub. Airlines contribute the rules they already file. Peer airlines verify. The whole industry consumes the same calculation API. No drift. No "which version did you use?" arguments.
The canonical instance is run for the community by the community — governed by the airlines that file the returns, not a vendor.
Primary-source provenance
Every tax record links to its primary government source. Transparent calc rules. No black box.
Airline-governed
Each tax is owned by one airline (e.g. Air France owns the French TSBA). Peer airlines propose; an approval quorum publishes.
Free API for everyone
Free calculation endpoint. Free downloadable JSON corpus. No vendor login, no per-call fees, no API key gating.
Visual rule editor
Rule graphs, not procedural code. Drag a node, set a rate, run a scenario. Non-technical staff can read and reason about every tax.
Test-first
Every record needs a passing scenario before it moves from 'in progress' to 'verified'. No untested code at the front.
Modern airline retailing
Aligned with NDC/Order shapes. Ready for offer-time tax pricing, not just ticketing reconciliation.
If your tax team already manages a country,
you can claim it in minutes.
Sign in with your airline corporate email. We verify the domain (e.g. @airfrance.fr → AF) and grant read access immediately. Then claim the rules your team already knows by heart, and become the authoritative voice on those rates.
Help us make this the best tax engine in the world. Every contribution — a corrected rate, a new exemption rule, a missing country — moves the whole industry forward.
Free data. Free engine.
Real-time updates.
Use the hosted calculation API — or download the entire rule corpus and run the engine inside your own infrastructure. Subscribe to the canonical feed and your local copy stays current as airlines publish changes.
Free to download
The entire tax rule corpus, downloadable as JSON or queryable via REST. No vendor login, no per-call fees, no API key gating.
Run the engine locally
The Tax Engine runs on RuleForge — embed it inside your application or run it as a service. Same engine the hosted API uses.
Real-time feed
Subscribe to the canonical feed; your local copy updates in real-time as airlines publish rule changes. No cron jobs, no rate-table fire drills.

That's it. No marketing. No drip campaigns. Just the things an airline tax team would actually want to know.
